Do you see yourself as a seeker after spirituality who has found the church unhelpful in the past? Or maybe you’re just looking for an environment where you can begin to connect with some of the spiritual yearnings you’ve noticed in yourself. Essence may appeal to you. It’s a course designed to introduce people who have an interest in Spirituality or “New Age” philosophy, to the Christian perspective on spirituality. But we’re not talking cerebral talk shop here. The six session course emphasises deepening spirituality and providing a place of encountering God. It’s an experiential approach. The ethos is one of encouraging fellow travellers on their pilgrimage towards God.
So you’ll find yourself engaged in a whole variety of different activities from relaxation exercises, to chilled meditation, to sharing experiences from your life journey, to reflecting on symbols and burning incense. There’ll be wise ancient wisdom from Christian mystics to chew on and hands on activities for making stuff to aid contemplation.  
The series runs over six sessions and covers a wide range of topic:
The journey so far:
–Belonging, community, spiritual highs and lows, stress
The journey within:
– Who am I? Identity, image, perception, affirmation
The journey to a better world:
– Relating to our planet, the eco-system, destruction, creator, partnership, stewardship
The journey to wholeness:
– Body, mind, spirit, emotions, physical and mental pain
The journey to Spirituality:
– Religious experience, seeking God, types of prayer, coming into God’s presence
The journey to the future:
– Hopes and dreams, the future, eternity
