Towards the end of 2007, we explored afresh our sense of vision and values as B1. Following three sessions, and a number of follow-up meetings (!), the values that emerged are listed below! We hope that these shape our life together as a community of faith.
ATTENTIVENESS
We are a church
Listening to the still, small voice of God.
Following Jesus’ example of seeking time with God .
Shaped by the Spirit’s presence in our lives and in the world.
NURTURING
We are a church
That values authenticity.
Where struggles can be honestly shared.
In which we encourage one another to become more like Jesus.
COMMUNITY
We are a church
Committed to demonstrating the selfless love of Jesus
Where we share each other’s lives
In which we treat one another with grace.
ACCEPTANCE
We are a church
That wants to reflect God’s hospitality to all.
That encourages faith as a journey, not a destination
That allows doubt and creates room for mystery.
EQUIPPING
We are a church
Where we identify and develop each other’s gifts.
Inspired by the stories of God’s work among us.
That takes risks to be involved in God’s mission and service to the world
